NSW: Police continue hunt for dangerous escapee
SYDNEY, April 15 AAP - A man who escaped police custody outside a Sydney courthouse
yesterday is still on the run this morning.
Samuel Smith, who is considered dangerous, was due in Central Local Court in central
Sydney yesterday after his arrest in Kings Cross on Tuesday.
The 23-year-old was charged with possessing a knife and balaclava, four counts of resisting
arrest and goods in custody.
After being driven to prison cells at the courthouse in a police van shortly before
9.30am Smith, who was not handcuffed, escaped his escort and outran police.
He then carjacked a Volkswagen, throwing the female driver onto the pavement.
Police will today continue searching for Smith.
