NSW: Resignations prove police service is transparent: Whelan

Police Minister PAUL WHELAN says the New South Wales police service is more transparent
than ever before, following the resignation of two officers.

Inspector ROBERT MENZIES, who was vice president of the Police Association, and Detective
Senior Constable PAUL MUSETH tendered their resignations after admitting to the Police
Integrity Commission they had cheated the promotions process.

Mr WHELAN says that in the bad old days, such a scandal would have been swept under
the carpet and it is significant that Police Commissioner PETER RYAN referred the matter
to the commission.
